Current use

What We Know uses the strictly necessary, HTTP-only whatweknow-admin-session cookie to keep an authenticated administrator signed in for up to 8 hours.

It also uses the functional whatweknow-language cookie to remember whether a reader selected English or Spanish. It contains no account identifier and can remain for up to one year.

These cookies are not used for advertising, analytics, profiling, or cross-site tracking. The administration cookie uses SameSite Strict and is marked Secure in production; the language preference uses SameSite Lax.

If we add analytics, advertising, embedded media, or other non-essential cookies, we will update this page and request consent where required before they are set.

Managing cookies

You can remove or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the language cookie returns the site to English; blocking the administration cookie prevents sign-in to the protected control area.
